AI inside your automation

Add AI to an automation and it stops just shuffling data and starts thinking - sorting, writing, extracting details and deciding. This is where two threads of the course come together.

What AI adds to a workflow

  • Sorting - sorts emails, enquiries and reviews by what is in them.
  • Generation - writes a reply, a summary, a description.
  • Extraction - pulls the amount, the date and the name out of an email or an invoice.
  • Decisions - works out where something should go or what takes priority.

Concrete examples

  • An enquiry comes in → AI works out the field and the urgency and routes it accordingly.
  • An invoice arrives → AI pulls the amount and the due date into a spreadsheet.
  • A review appears → AI drafts a polite response for approval.

How it works

In n8n you add a node for Claude or OpenAI, give it a prompt (see prompting course) and pass its output on down the workflow. The AI is just one of the boxes - the clever one.

What to watch out for

Budget for small token costs (for the AI calls) and watch out for hallucinations - on the important steps, have a person approve the result. An automation is there to save time, not to decide blind.

Automation moves data around. Automation with AI understands what it is moving - and that is a completely different league.

Want automation that thinks as well?

I will bring automation and AI together around your exact processes - sorting, replies, extracting details. Tell me what you are dealing with and I will design it.
