Google Business Profile (and how people find you)

The fastest way for people nearby to find you. A Google Business Profile is free and does wonders for a small business in local search.

What it is

Your business card right inside Google and Maps - opening hours, phone, website, photos and reviews. What people see when they google you.

Why you want it

When someone searches "cafe near me" or "plumber Pilsen", you show up with a map and a rating attached. Free, and enormously powerful locally.

How to do it

  1. Set up a Google Business Profile.
  2. Verify the business (by a code in the post or by phone).
  3. Fill everything in - category, opening hours, website, description.
  4. Add good photos.

Reviews pull

Ask happy customers for a review and reply to them (feel free to use AI, see the course for your line of work). Reviews decide who people go to.

What to watch out for

Keep your details (name, address, phone) identical to the ones on your site and keep them current - both Google and people appreciate it.

Before anyone reaches your website, they often meet you on Maps. Make sure you look better there than the competition two streets away.
